From dawn till dusk, the Maldives offered a spectacle of natural wonders. During the day, temperatures soared into the high 80s, but a gentle breeze provided relief as I explored the tropical paradise. The resort, adorned with lush greenery, blooming flowers, and swaying palm trees, felt like something out of a dream. And if you’re up for it, bikes are readily available for you to pedal your way around this enchanting island.
One of the most remarkable aspects of my trip was the diversity of languages echoing through the air, as people from all corners of the globe gathered to share in this paradise. And when it came time to unwind, the bar served up refreshing drinks with a smile, courtesy of Akhil and Staako, who poured their heart into every concoction.
But what truly sets the Maldives apart is its sense of community, even among resort staff. They live nearby, forming a tight-knit family, with meals and accommodations provided, allowing them to focus on enjoying their time off. And with no income tax to worry about, they have the freedom to spend their earnings on what truly matters to them.
As for accommodations, my overwater villa provided the ultimate retreat. Laying serenely in a hammock, I listened to the soothing melody of the Indian Ocean below, while marveling at the celestial display above. And each morning, breakfast was a feast for the senses, with an array of local fruits, smoothies, and freshly squeezed orange juice to start the day off right.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the resort transformed into a luminous wonderland, with pools and pathways illuminated in shades of blue and turquoise. And there’s no better time to take a dip in the infinity pool than at sunset, with the Indian Ocean stretching out before you in all its glory.
